New York, November 13 – The American Artists Professional League (AAPL) has announced Nicole Moné of Ossining, New York as the 2016 recipient of the “Newington Award – Best Painting in Show” at the AAPL 88th Grand National Exhibition. The award was presented by AAPL President Peter Rossi on Sunday, November 13, 2016 during the AAPL annual meeting and awards reception held at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.

Ms. Moné received the AAPL’s most prestigious award for her oil painting entitled “Blowing Smoke (Portrait of Aaron Shikler).” Her work was selected from 194 oil, watercolor, and pastel paintings in the national competition.

“The AAPL is dedicated to encouraging and promoting traditional, realistic art,” said Peter Rossi.” We are extremely proud to recognize some of America’s finest artists, and our award winners’ work exemplifies the quality of art that our organization strives to support.”

Each year, the organization hosts its Grand National Exhibition, a show that highlights major and emerging professional artists in oil, watercolor, pastel, sculpture, graphics, and mixed media. Entries are received from all 50 states as well as internationally and judged by a selection committee consisting of professional artists. This year, American Artists Professional League’s 88th Grand National Exhibition highlights the achievements of 249 artists.
